Dharma Rajya

Dharma Rajya is not for division, but for Unity

There had been lots of discussions on the Bhikkus contesting the Parliamentary Election. The concept of Dharma Rajya (Kingdom of the Doctrine) is defined by some parties as a fragmentation of the community into groups and it leads to conflicts among religions.

 Dharma Rajya is a Kingdom, which is governed, having the doctrine as the base. The based doctrine here is Buddhism. Any people in the world, who is not an extremist, and if he or she has an unbiased vision, he has to accept that Lord Buddha was the greatest ever philosopher and Buddhism is the greatest philosophy in the world. The concepts, the doctrine of Buddhism is not only for Buddhist, but also for any living being. Even not being a Buddhist anyone can follow the teachings in Buddhism. The teachings of Buddhism never tempt people to harm anybody, any creature or even any tree or leaf. Therefore in a Dharma Rajya no one can be discriminated. All the living being, no matter what race they belong to or what religion they belong to, are protected and treated well in a Buddhist Dharma Rajya. If you study a bit about Buddhism you can come to know that it is the simple reality and the truth.

 One of the most important features in Dharma Rajya is the Unity. All races, all religions will be able to live peacefully. There is no necessity for any non-Buddhist person to think that they will be discriminated or harmed in a Dharma Rajya. Objective of a Dharma Rajya is uniting the people who are divided with corrupt politics. It is not for separating people.

 In Sri Lanka people have separated by this party politics. They always give promises and take votes of innocent people and forget them after an Election. They do every shameless thing to cheat the public and fight maliciously with each other.

 Objective of Dharma Rajya is getting rid of this separation and building a united country. This corrupt politics must be cleaned. None of the politicians in present want to clean it and they just want to be in it and spread the evil in the society.

 There are enough lessons in Buddhism for politics. No one can throw away those teachings having said those are old. The doctrine of Buddha is “Akalika” (not time dependent). It includes all the sciences of Politics, Economics, Social and etc. The only thing required is practical implementation of them in a Government.

 Present political extremists never wanted to consider those Buddhist teachings in politics. What they did was keeping their eyes closed even when the Buddhism is facing threats. They never took measures to save Buddhism. Ultimately they made most noble Sangha Rathnaya to come into politics.

 As desperate times need desperate measures Bhikkus had to come forward with pure intention of uniting the country by cleaning corruption from politics, by building a Dharma Rajya.
