Chasing an elusive Nadi leaf ? From previous page "What is astrology" ......... Out of curiosity I went to such a place operated by some South Indians at Colombo. After about 30 minutes of answering such questions, I felt sorry for them and told, "You seems to have a very hard time finding my leaf., you have my thumb print, you have my horoscope, To make things much easier, I will tell you my fathers full name, my mothers full name, my full name" and "Can't you please find my Leaf a bit quicker ? Because I live in Kandy suburbs and if I get held up at Colombo, I might not be able to catch the last bus leaving from Kandy and I may have to walk about 3 km to home at night". They said no you have to answer these questions. I asked why I promised to tell you what you want? Answer was that they have to follow the procedure. (Continued ... below after this long list of questions similar to ones I was asked.....This questionnaire I got from a Nadi Astrology web site offering you a reading for 350US$ )
Wonder whether there is any thing left to tell about you, in the Nadi script ola leaf page reading, once you revealed everything about you beforehand. (With all these background information, you do not need a sage to write your leaf, with 300US$ payment and the completed questionnaire, ask any Tom, Dick, Harry, Mohamed, Lee or your next door neighbor, they will certainly agree to write you a better one). I think you will be better off with my free Javascript web page leaf reading. Provided that you entered data correctly and given correct birth time, latitude and longitude, ( and with out asking any of these questions.) I am petty sure this web leaf will give you a reasonably acceptable and hence a better reading based on your Lagna. One Nadi Astrology web site claims that "The letters appear and disappear on the leaves" due to unexplainable reasons. As you see from these questions above, The only procedure there could be is the procedure, under the pretext of finding the correct leaf, they follow, to build up your profile about your past and present. Because of that, the areas of their readings covering the persons past and present is mostly correct, but the future part of their readings are usually hazy since, they can not question you about your future and find any clues. What is humanly possible is told and what is impossible to tell is also told as this I can not tell, as I do not know of any methods how to analyze it. Example, if somebody ask me what is the exact day I am going to die ? I say I do not know. Frankly I do not know of any reliable astrological method of deriving it, as the "ayurdaya" or the calculation of longevity methods are not satisfactorily accurate. But I will be able to tell him the most likely period of it might happen. Or the period he may get seriously ill (Maraka). So my conclusion was in reality there were no such Nadi Astrology Leafs, (At least in this particular instance with the people whom I met with who seems to be very popular at Colombo. What they show you is just an old looking bundle of leafs where some gibberish were written in letters which looks similar to some Tamil letters but even the most erudite Tamil scholar would not be able to make a head or tail of it, because there is nothing but nonsense is written there. They pretend to read leaf but actually they summarize and repeat what they learned from you. To buy the time, they use the pretext of the help of a Translator. But, though not experts, they know a little bit of normal astrology and use that knowledge to do some seemingly correct forecasts. If somebody has better experience with a Nadi Astrology Reader, please write to me. I will publish it in this site as I am only against fake Nadi Astrology Readers and their cheap tricks who try to fool us and tarnish the name of the real one. My other questions regarding to the above paper article are practical ones. Apart from agriculture science, I am a Librarian with Post Graduate Qualifications from one of the Leading world class Academic Institutions, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). Records Management, Archivist are the related professions in this field and therefore the opinion I express here is a qualified one of a professional. Any person in the computer field who was involved in Database Management or Cataloguing type of work knows that, even the best data entry operator or an cataloguer/indexer can handle maximum about 200 records per day. The Nadi astrologers claim that every body has a record. Even an Irshi (sage) is a human being. So how can he create so much records ? It is humanly impossible, not even for a one person but for a team also, it is an impossible task, given the huge human population lived and living in the world. What about the storage ? Where do you store such large number of leaves ?. What a huge where house you need for the storage of all these hard copies. What could be the area of forest they needed to get so many leaves. Forget about 2-3 Billions. If you have an idea about how ola leaves are prepared for writing, you may know that, finding even an one billion good quality leaves and preparation of it up to the writing quality itself is not an easy task, which can rival the organization of tasks in relation to the building a section of Grate Wall of China or a good size Pyramid. How do they transport those from India to Colombo ? Specially through airport customs ? Both Indian and Sri Lankan Customs regulations prohibit the movement of the artifacts of historic value such as manuscripts. Sages are very intelligent scholars, their accurate mathematical calculations of planetary motions are a proof of that. Do you believe that, those scientists who were so advanced enough even thousands of years ago on subjects like mathematics, physics and astronomy were so stupid enough to leave such a great work with a flimsy cataloguing and indexing system?. Where you require about one hour of questioning to find a single leaf ?. A classification and indexing system based Date, place, time of birth and Shodasa Vargas (Rashi, Hora, Decanate, etc.) or even Saptavargas will facilitate finding any leaf in seconds. If they overlooked the above suggested classification system, then they also could be not the genuine Scholars at time but fake ones. I think to pretend that the scholars who lived in the past were incapable of thinking of an efficient indexing system, as a big insult for genuine Sages and Irshies. Any body who had ever seen the ancients texts such as "Parashara Hora Shastra", "Garga Hora", or if not an astrological text, at least "Maha Bharath" (Indian History) or "Maha Wamsha" (Sri Lankan History) will understand my point. Therefore my advice to you is, whether it is "Shri ola Nadi Sree Kowsika Nadi ola Agasthiya Nadi ola astrology leaf" or "Sri Shrie Nadi ola Kagabujandar leaf Astrology Nadi ola" or what ever it is: If somebody or a web site ask you a long list of questions before giving their readings, then better go to a normal astrologer than getting that reading from them. At least he or she the normal astrologer, will try to give you a reading to the best of his/her ability with out deceiving you with, extra ordinary claims, which even a Maha Irishi may not be able to accomplish in practice. So having faith in normal astrology and the astrologers you know of as genuine, together with helping them to develop the astrological system we currently have is far more better and practical than chasing an elusive leaf. As I have stressed before, the end result of the acts of those frauds is the discrimination of the whole subject of Astrology and astrologers on the eyes of reasonable level minded people. Betrayal of the works of those who had contributed honestly this valuable subject. Including Great Sages and Irshies of the past down to people who contribute to it at present at the best of their ability in good faith as a service for others. Which is a very unfortunate situation as they too are being put in the same category as tricksters and conmen. That is why I personally never say that I am an Astrologer or introduce myself as an Astrologer to anybody. Thanks to those frauds, people with honesty and integrity are being forced to distance themselves form association with a subject they are interested in.
